NOCRI Meeting for Statisticians:
Influencing the design and analysis of laboratory studies

10:00 – 16:00 Friday 12th April 2013
Centre for Statistics in Medicine
Wolfson College, OXFORD, OX2 6UD

The day provided the opportunity for statisticians to share their experience and discuss challenges in the design and analysis of laboratory studies

Laboratories are often unchartered waters for medical statisticians but laboratory studies are vital to the translational research pathway. Statisticians can help laboratory scientists in the design and analysis of their studies; however they are often consulted after the completion of an experiment.

The objective of this meeting was for NIHR statisticians to present, in an informal setting, examples of their collaboration with laboratory scientists. Examples of problems solved or unsolved are welcome so that we can gain insight into the statistical challenges faced. The day ended with a workshop in which we formed a working group and planned a paper of our findings.
