RIPOSTE Consortium

The Laboratory Studies Working Group organised this one-day workshop to trial and refine their RIPOSTE framework, which aims to support discussions between laboratory scientists and statisticians when designing a new study.

The committee developed a prompt-list using items commonly encountered in reporting guidelines, revised to be relevant for laboratory experiments at the design stage. They then invited 12 statisticians and 12 laboratory scientists to the workshop to pilot the framework. This was done in small groups of two scientists and two statisticians, who tested the framework using examples supplied by the scientists. At the end of the workshop, the committee collected feedback and suggested modifications to the framework from the attendees.
