NIHR SSCR’s Webinar Series showcases the School’s commissioned research and capacity-building activities. The Series also aims to showcase relevant social care research funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
Bo Hu presented an introduction to using machine learning techniques.pdf, including concepts such as structured and unstructured data, overfitting and underfitting as well as training and validation.
Hao Luo presented on a project utilising machine learning techniques.pdf in the context of analysing social care data (identifying dementia through cognitive footprints).
The session ended with breakout groups discussing how researchers might incorporate or find machine learning useful for analysing social care data moving forward.
