The plans are underway for the NIHR Statistics Group Conference 2023. The Conference will be taking place in Sheffield from the 22nd to the 23rd June at The Edge. We are planning for an in-person conference with flexibility for some remote attendance.

The theme for this year’s conference is Achieving Best Statistical Practice in Health and Care Research. The conference will bring into focus discussions around how as a community we can achieve best statistical practice in all our research in health and social care.  Areas can include but are not limited to data integrity, data sharing, mixed methods research practices, ethical approval processes, patient and public engagement, real world evidence, collaboration with stakeholders, design and implementation of research tools, recruitment and retention in clinical trials.

All are welcome to attend the meeting – it will be of particuar relevance to statisticians, data scientists and those with an active interest in statistics and data science.

A unique feature of the NIHR Statistics Group conference is to provide a forum for applied statisticians to discuss ideas and challenges they enconter and much of this discussion takes place within the breakout sessions.  The Conference will run up to 12 such sessions.  Each breakout session takes place within up to a 1 hour time slot with about 20 minutes reserved for questions and open discussion.  Materials presented within one session can be a series of short talks or workshop style discussion activities.

The call for breakout sessions is now closed.

Call for poster presentations at the NIHR Statistics Group Conference 2023 is currently open.  The deadline for submitting abstracts is 28th March 2023

All accepted posters will be submitted as e-posters, i.e. pre-recorded presentations which will be available for attendees to view online.  In addition, poster authors will be encouraged to present and answer questions on their poster during a dedicated slot in the conference. They will also have the option to display a printed version of their poster. The exact length of the dedicated slot in the programme is likely to be around 10 minutes including time for questions.
